Thanks to everyone that participated in our annual golf tournament and to all those that made it possible, especially those on the RCA board’s golf committee!
(Side note – Click on any of the photos to make them larger. You can navigate to next & previous photos from the box that pops up as well.)
The reason this all happens though is so that we can fund and present scholarships to deserving college bound high school students. Jordyn Izzo was the first to be presented with her scholarship. Her mother is RCA Member and Erie Insurance Claims Facilitator Cory Izzo. Jordyn is headed to the University of Mount Olive in the fall to study to become a veterinarian.
Riley Austin is the daughter of RCA member and NC Farm Bureau District Claims Manager, Jeff Austin. She is headed to Wake Tech in the fall and has secured a guaranteed admission to NC State in her sophomore year. She plans on studying horticulture and agriscience.
The second reason we’re there is, of course, GOLF! Twenty one teams entered this year, but only one can win the tournament. Coming in third place with a score 10 under par was the team consisting of Jeff Austin, Neal Woodlief, Tolson Willis and Stephen Baynard.
In second was the team of Leon Turner, Andy McDonald, Steve Brinn and Palmer Sugg. It appears Andy couldn’t make it for the photo op. This team scored a very impressive 11 under par.
…and in first place, also scoring 11 under par, winning via tie breaker was only one man, Rob Clarke. Rob was playing with a teammate that hadn’t golfed before, so this was all him. Well done sir!
Congratulations to the scholarship recipients and all these great golfers! Now we get to the fun part; well, the fun part for me – the part where I got go to have fun with my camera and drive a golf cart around all afternoon.
Starting Off
The Teams
Now we’ll go ahead and get the team shots out of the way before getting to some action. There are photos of every team and I’ve tried to get all the names right. If I’ve mis-matched anything, don’t hesitate to email and let me know. One important note – the names are not in order of the faces, they are in the order on our list. I couldn’t match all of them, so I didn’t do any to be fair. Sorry!
Sponsors
Of course, where would we be without our sponsors? Some of them are photographed above, but here are the rest. Apologies if I missed anyone!
The Course
Friday was just a lovely day outside. It was clear as it could be and cool. You couldn’t ask for a better day for golf. The course was beautiful too.
Action!
Now on to the fun part – the action!
Last, but certainly not least – bringing up the next generation! Thank you all for making the 2014 RCA Golf Tournament a success!
